Shrek pays a special visit to Kilkeel

Porscha Boyce and Teagan Bolton with Shrek in Kilkeel.
THE local Spar on Greencastle Street in Kilkeel last week had a very special visitor.
Coming from 'Far Far Away', Shrek himself arrived to meet and greet the young (and not so young) in the area, for a bit of fun, all as part of the promotion of the new Shrek movie and the Shrek Soft Toy promotion, currently running in the store.
Delighting the locals, the Ogre himself spent time posing for photos with his fans, taking care to be gentle as the human kids are a lot smaller than the Orge children he is used to in 'Far Far Away!'
Customers enjoyed face painting and balloon modelling as part of the entertainment and lapped up the tasty treats which were provided by the store.
Eleanor Ferguson, Customer Advisor, said: "The visit from Shrek was a great event in store and thoroughly enjoyed by all.
There were a lot of excited faces around, which was lovely to see and be a part of, and we really enjoyed ourselves too.
“With the launch of the Shrek movie, 'Shrek Forever After,' we are delighted to be able to offer customers this special saving on the fantastic range of soft toys of the four most popular characters from the family friendly movie!"
The Spar Shrek offer runs until 5 September, with customers still being able to redeem their saver cards until the 12 September, so that gives plenty of time to collect and save for all four toys in the set.
