Family heartache over Christmas

Wednesday, 4 January 2012

THE Christmas and New Year period is normally a time for celebrating, however two families have been plunged into heartache and grief after the untimely deaths of two young men.
Both men were only in their thirties when they passed away suddenly over the Christmas and New Year period.
Rathfriland man Marcus Magill passed away in the early hours of 22 December at his home in London. At the time of going to print, no funeral arrangements had been made as the family were still awaiting the return of the 38-year-old's body back home to Northern Ireland.
They said the last 11 days have been hard to come to terms with and it remains a waiting game until Marcus is brought home.
Wayne Brown, from Mountnorris, passed away suddenly on Friday, 30 December. The talented footballer had played for Carlingford Utd Football Club and guided them to their first trophy in 2006 against Seacastle Wanderers in Oriel Park where he scored the opening goal. He also played for many other teams such as Newry City Football Club and Bessbrook United.
The attendance at the father-of-three's funeral showed how much he was thought of as the church was packed to capacity.
The 31-year-old's funeral was held on Sunday, 1 January at St Patrick's, Loughgilly Parish Church. He was buried in the adjoining graveyard.
Wayne is survived by his children, Ryan, Harry and Courtney, father and mother Colin and Laura and brothers Neil and Justin and sister Nicola.
