Kathryn starts the new year on a Winning Streak! thumbnailKathryn Farnon from Newry Road, Hilltown, won 56,400 euros, including a hoilday to Tobago, on last Saturday's, 31st December 2011 National Lottery Winning Streak TV game show held by RTE.

A HILLTOWN woman is celebrating after winning over 50,000 euros in the hit RTE game show Winning Streak.
Kathryn Farnon, from the Newry Road appeared on the show on New Years' Eve.
The 23-year-old spoke to The Outlook about how she feels about becoming 50,000 euro richer.
“I got engaged at the end of November and my fiancé Ciaran and myself had been going about looking at wedding venues a few weeks ago.
“We had been to the Carrrickdale Hotel and we were on our way to the Four Seasons Hotel when we stopped at a shop in Omeath. Ciaran went into the shop and bought two scratchcards. He gave one to me and we both scratched them then and there.
“We actually both ended up getting three stars and so we each filled in our names on the scratchcards and sent them in," said Kathryn, who works in the Ulster Bank in Warrenpoint.
If a contestant gets three stars on the three euro scratchcard, they can send in the scratchcard with their name on the back and be entered into the draw for the main show, when five lucky contestants get the chance to appear and win some life-changing cash.
As Christmas Eve was on a Saturday, the draw for the 31 December show was made on Saturday 17 December and Kathryn proved to be a hard woman to track down.
“They were trying to get in contact with me from the Sunday (18 December) to the Tuesday (20 December).
“They got in touch at home and because I was at work, my whole family knew I had been chosen for the show before me.
“I was in disbelief. I thought that somebody was taking the hand out of me," said Kathryn, who has one older sister and a younger brother.
“The show was recorded on Wednesday, 28 December and I had to be down at the studios for 11am. I was given 25 tickets for my family and friends and they had to be down for 2.30pm.
“I actually had 31 people come down and the people in RTE could not have been more helpful as they set up a room for the extra six to watch the recording."
Kathryn began the show by playing 'Cash Cubes.' She had to pick a colour and she said she had to pick the colour yellow - after her team of Clonduff.
“Initially I went for yellow, because Clonduff play in yellow obviously.
“I won something like 11,400 euro then and they said I could play on and I won a 5,000 euro holiday to Tobago.
“Then I won the top prize of 30,000 euro. I am still in shock now," said Kathryn.
Kathryn, who only recently graduated from university with a degree in Quantity Surveying, hopes that the money will be able to give her a bit of a "breathing space" and she hopes to use some of it to start plans for the future, which will include her upcoming wedding.
Kathryn says that when she realised she was going to be on the show, she asked her fiancé if he wanted to go in her place as he was the one who bought the ticket, but he told her that she was picked for a reason and not to change luck.
“People have been so nice since I appeared on the show and the amount of people who have came forward and wished me luck has been unbelievable," said Kathryn, who says that she will have to treat her godchild Jack with an extra special present.
