Proposal on wings of love! thumbnailAll lovey-dovey! TJ McAvoy and Colette Travers.

A LOCAL man has proposed to his girlfriend by tying a diamond engagement ring on a dove's leg.
TJ McAvoy keeps doves and choose the unusual method to propose marriage to his partner of seven years, Colette Travers.
The couple run a small business called Knock Doves and specialise in releasing doves - a recognised symbolise of peace and love - at weddings, christenings and funerals.
Over the Christmas period one of their snow white doves was involved in sealing their own union.
The couple, who have two young children and are from the Knock Road outside Rathfriland, became engaged on Saturday (10 December).
Colette shared details of TJ's surprise romantic proposal to her.
“TJ had been asking me to help him cut a dove's nails for about a week or so," she said.
“He brought the dove into the house and gave me one of its feet. I thought to myself that its nails were fine so I was wondering what he was at.
“Then he handed me the other foot and it had an engagement ring tied onto it. I was so shocked and couldn't get over what he had done. Of course my answer was yes! It was a lovely, romantic thought."
The couple, who plan to tie the knot in 2018, intend to include their messengers of love as part of their wedding ceremony.
Colette added: "We started Knock Doves a couple of years ago and we are finding that it is becoming very popular with couples, it is certainly something different.
“We have done around 12 weddings so far and it is starting to go well for us, we have about 30 birds at the minute."
Their unique wedding business started through bird fancier, TJ's love for animals.
“TJ used to race pigeons a couple of years ago and trained them too so he decided to start training the doves for something different."
At a wedding the doves are released by the couple either through their hands or from a heart shaped woven basket.
