Four weeks until leisure centre opens.

THE countdown has started for everyone to take their first look inside the district's newest leisure and sports centre.

Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson Councillor Roisin Mulgrew said: "Newry Leisure Centre Phase II is due to officially open soon and promises to be a first class venue, with state-of-the-art facilities, to improve everyone's health and wellbeing.

"Everyone is welcome to come and see on Saturday, 4 November and Sunday, 5 November for a fun filled weekend of activities showcasing the new facilities."

Councillor Mulgrew continued, "In addition to the eight lane swimming pool and leisure learner pools which opened in 2015, the new facility will include an eight court and four court sports hall, children's soft play area, 80 station gym with cutting edge technology, racquet sports courts, multipurpose rooms and studios, 47 bike spin studio, dry changing facilities and a café.

"The opening of the new Newry Leisure Centre will be a fantastic moment for the community, the council, and indeed the district. "
