MARK Nesbitt is currently the golden boy of local archery, having qualified for both the Commoµnwealth Games and Youth Olympic Games.
He has qualified in the gent's team and and individual recurve division.
During the qualifying campaign, Mark, who shoots for Ballyvalley Archers Banbridge, smashed the previous Northern Ireland record for the Fita 70 round which will be shot at the games.
Although only 17 he has made his mark on the world stage in the past, winning both team and individual gold at the Olympic Youth Festival in Australia last year.
He has also won the Junior European and World medals and secured a place for Team GB in the Youth Olympics later this year whilst shooting at the Junior World championship in Utah.
Mark said "I'm over the moon to have been selected to represent Northern Ireland at the Commonwealth Games.
“Putting on the Northern Ireland vest at any competition is fantastic but to do it at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi will be an amazing honour".
The Ballyvalley archer is also set to represent Britain at next month's inaugural Youth Olympic Games.
He will be the only British athlete to represent archery at the competition in Singapore from 14 to 26 August 2010. This is a great honour for Mark and also indicates his ranking in British archery.
The Youth Olympic Games will bring together approximately 3200 athletes between the ages of 14 and 18 from the 205 participating nations around the world to take part in high level competition. The young athletes will also take part in a Culture and Education programme.
Mark is going to have a busy summer as he competes in the European Junior Championships at Winnenden, Germany between the 11-18 July and then goes on the Moscow for the 2010 Grand Prix Finals between the 18 - 25 July.
