THE festive season always brings with it plenty of shooting opportunities, and 2011 was no different for Rathfriland Clay Pigeon Club.
The club's first event of the festive period took place on Christmas Eve; Saturday, 24 December, and despite a slow start, saw a total of 28 lines of twenty-bird DTL. Final results for Christmas Eve were first Neville Ferguson, second Adrian Lindsay and third Norman Sally.
Boxing Day, Monday, 26 December saw the next contest at Rathfriland, where the Bob Glenholmes Cup would be up for grabs. As well as the usual 20-bird DTL, there was also a Pool Trap competition on offer for shooters, providing another challenge for those in attendance. Boxing Day saw another good turnout for the club, which annually raises funds for the local Drumlough Pipe Band. A total of 27 lines were shot in DTL competition. Final DTL places were first Enoch McCauley, second George Gracey and third Wesley Park.
