All square for Colts

Rathfriland Colts 2. Valley Rangers Thirds 2.
VALLEY Rangers Thirds were the visitors to Rathfriland on Saturday in their league encounter, an entertaining game which ended all square.
The game started brightly with some good exchanges in play from both sides. Conan Power and Ryan Monaghan worked hard in the centre, with Gerard Fagan and Daryl O'Reilly on the wings giving Ryan and Gary O'Reilly good support.
This good work paid off as Rathfriland broke the deadlock with Gary slipping Ryan through for him to slip the ball under the advancing keeper.
Valley had good spells of play and made it hard for the Colts defence with Alan Murray, Colm Jackson, John Ringland and Andy Scott soaking up the pressure.
The Colts got their second goal with Andy getting the ball to Gerard's feet and he powered towards goal, striking the ball home for their second.
Rathfriland kept it tight and finished the half two goals to the good.
From the re-start, Valley's young side came more into the game and gave the Rathfriland defence a hard time. With Jordon McRoberts replacing Andy, he was straight into the action, doing a good job at left back.
However, Valley got a goal back with a corner not being cleared and the loose ball being slotted past Neil Graham in nets by the Valley centre back.
The Colts kept creating chances with Conan, Ryan and Gary all having shots saved by the Vally keeper.
With David Quinn and Jordon Marks bringing some fresh legs into the fray, Rathfriland pushed Valley again but they kept the pressure on the Colts and, with a slip in defence, this allowed the Valley striker in for their equaliser.
At the death Rathfriland were denied a penalty shout but this was not to be and the game ended all evens. A good team performance from all the lads.
