Banbridge cyclist, Mark Downey has added to his medal collection, securing gold in the UCI Track Cycling World Cup, which was held in Colombia over the weekend
BANBRIDGE CC cyclist, Mark Downey is enjoying the accolades he is receiving, following his world cup win at the weekend.
The 20-year-old cyclist competed in the UCI Track Cycling World Cup in Colombia and secured back-to-back gold medals, having won the points race in the second World Cup round in Apeldoorn.
It was the first time the Dromore man had raced at altitude and knew he had to be careful.
He was delighted with the support he received from the Colombian crowd and said it was an "unbelievable feeling" to have the back-to-back wins.
He thanked everyone at Cycling Ireland, particularly David Muntaner Juaneda and Brian Nugent.
Mark's winning gold in the third round of the UCI Track Cycling World Cup sees him now leading the event.
