ONCE again, Annaclone Ladies delivered a fantastic night of entertainment with 16 energetic teams participating in a thoroughly enjoyable night.
Much work had been done prior to the event to ensure its smooth running and credit goes to co-ordinator-in-chief, Mary and her crew who harnessed the talents of comperes Fergie and Aileen, the excellent Country Cuisine and ladies' traybakes, the dedicated staff of Donal, Dermy, Kevin and Christopher, the set-up and clean-up teams and the magical Mini Macs amongst others.
In a change from last year's 'fingers on the buzzers', a dartboard was affixed beneath the store door and each team threw a dart to decide whether to 'play or pass' at the start of each round.
Some exceptional accuracy saw 80s star John Joe hit bullseye but it was Ladies No.1 Nadine who hit treble 20 for the Heaneys. On the other end of the scoring scale, some notable individuals missed the board whilst some even missed the door frame.
With 16 teams reduced to eight there were early fallers from 'Getting Hitched' who were history, Men's Team who crash-landed and The Farrells who fell at the final fence.
Last year's winners The O'Hares were undone by the Grounds Team making great pathways before being tripped by Millvale at the semi-final stage.
Earlier, The Historians were given renal failure as Millvale took the biscuit. Meanwhile, The Young Guns were ousted by the Underage Mentors who faced The Pyers Team in the semi-final.
Down to the decider and Owen's mountainous terrain left his team green with envy as the Mentors progressed to the final.
It was Millvale vs Mentors as Fergie and Aileen took a breather, before relaunching further witty commentary to a captivated audience.
Mary and Joanne reeled off the final teaser in the tie breaker and Team Millvale hit home with a slick finish after earlier transmission problems.
A massive array of generous prizes were then raffled with many excited winners on the night.
The Ladies would like to thank all those who helped out, participated, donated prizes or turned up for a memorable night.
Finally, Annaclone Senior Ladies are still looking for a manager, so if you are interested, get in touch.
On a sadder note, Annaclone GAC was saddened to learn of the passing of Eileen Heenan, wife of former Magheral player Jimmy Heenan, Lisnacroppin. The club extends its sympathies to Jimmy, sons, daughters and the entire family circle.
