Club tournament shows strength of youth football

Wednesday, 7 June 2017

BALLYVEA FC held their annual Youth Tournament and Fun Day on Saturday, 3 June.

The venue at Carginagh Road, Kilkeel was packed with young players and supporters from early morning.

The sun shone and the showers held off for most of the day as everyone enjoyed the excellent football on offer.

The burger and ice cream stands did a roaring trade, and the bouncy castles were kept busy too.

The youth tournaments from under 7s to under 16s were competitive, with many excellent young footballers on display.

Indeed a large number of key games needed penalty kicks to decide them.

In the end the winners were Damolly (U7s and U11s), Annalong Rovers (U9s and U10s), Dunaman (U14s) and Moira (U12s and U15s), but all the young players can be proud of their performances.

A large team of volunteers from Ballyvea worked hard to keep things running, and the club appreciates the support of all who attended, especially the other clubs who entered teams.

Ballyvea's next community event is a 5k/10k run or walk on Monday, 10 July at 7pm.

Details are available on the club's Facebook page.
