International success for Ballyvally archers

Wednesday, 5 July 2017

WITH the selection for the European Field Championships announced last week, four more Ballyvally archers have been selected for international duty this year.

The European Field Championships will be shot in Slovenia in August and Mark Nesbitt, Robert Mallon, Caoimhe Heaney and Tom Mehaffey have all been selected.

For Caoimhe and Tom this is a first.

Their selection has come after years of hard work practising with Ballyvally on the club's outdoor courses at Loughbrickland.

They have put in the qualifying scores at numerous shoots, including the English Championships at Kendal, the qualifying tournament at Wrexham in Wales and many tournaments in Ireland.

With six weeks to go there is a lot of last minute preparation and coaching to go.

That makes eight Ballyvally archers who have been selected for International duty, either with GB or Ireland, this year in Slovenia, France, Greece or Croatia.

Ballyvally archers are getting an excellent reputation worldwide! Details of the Ballyvally archery summer scheme can be obtained from club chairman Frank Mulligan at 028406 23748.
