Sheils in great form at Skerries thumbnailBanbridge rider Stephen McKnight at Baldongen at the weekend.

DEREK Sheils remains unbeaten this year in the big bike class, after a record breaking day at Skerries last Saturday.

The Dublin man took wins in the Open championship, Open non-championship and the Grand Final.

The only blot on his copybook came in the Supersport 600 race, where he finished .01 of a second adrift of Mullingar's Derek McGee.

Derek McGee took a hard fought win in the Supertwins race, finishing .1 ahead of Michael Sweeney.

Sheils retired from this one while in contention for the lead.

McGee also won the 125/Moto3 race, from Gary Dunlop.

Neil Kernohan won the 250/400 race when the result was declared on the fifth lap after the red flags came out.

That followed a nasty incident that left Yvonne Montgomery in hospital, with non-life-threatening injuries. Castleblaney's Joe Loughlin had a Junior and Senior Support double, while Barry Davidson and Robert McCrum were the Junior and Senior Classic winners respectively.

Despite the weather doing its best to spoil the show, the club stuck to their task and fired through a good days sport. Great credit to them for it.

Something of a unique event, a two-day race meeting, takes place at Bishopscourt this weekend.

Organised by the Mid Antrim club, there's a great entry for the meeting, with the man who leads the British Superstock championship, Danny Buchan, making a return to the Co. Down track.

As well as the Neil Robinson race, there will also be a race in memory of Neil's brother, Donny. I will have a round up of the weekends racing next week, as well as a few photos.
