RATHFRILAND netball player, Emma Cartmill has once again been selected to represent Northern Ireland U21 Netball Squad.

The squad has qualified within the top four teams in Europe to compete in the World Youth Cup 2017 in Gaborone, Botswana.

This was a great achievement for Emma, as the contest for places in the final 12 named squad was extremely competitive.

Emma has experience in this competition as at 16, she was the youngest player in the team at the last World Youth Cup, four years ago in Glasgow.

Northern Ireland has been drawn in Pool A against New Zealand, Scotland, Samoa and Sri Lanka, which will be a challenging group.

Training has been a huge commitment requiring Emma to fly home from university in Edinburgh regularly.

Fundraising has been a major part of the road to Botswana and Emma would like to thanks her sponsors The Milestone Rathfriland, along with those who donated to her recent sponsorship efforts when she abseiled down the front of the Europa Hotel.

Emma and the squad began their journey on Monday (3 July) and will be competing in Gaborone for two weeks.

We wish the NI U21s every success in this Netball World Youth Cup.
