New coach for ladies section

BANBRIDGE Hockey Club have appointed Phil Rankin as Head Coach of the ladies section.
Phil has joined Banbridge from Ards Hockey Club.
Commenting on the appointment BHC Head of Senior Hockey, Neil Madeley stated; "We are delighted that Phil has taken up the post as our Ladies 1st XI coach. Phil has an excellent track record as a coach and we are looking forward to him working with and further developing our ladies hockey section."
Phil Rankin previously coached at Ards Hockey Club and worked mainly with their Ladies 1st XI who play in the elite EY Hockey League (EYHL).Ards have tasted success on the indoor front at both Irish and European level and have enjoyed major success at Ulster level winning the Ulster Premier League and Ulster shield prior to the formation of the EYHL, with Phil heavily involved in their outdoor efforts.
Phil takes over from Robin Madeley who saw some great successes with the senior team under his charge including successive promotions and their historic promotion to the Premier League for the first time.
Newly appointed Head Coach Phil Rankin stated: "I am looking forward to taking on this role, working with the ladies 1st XI at Banbridge and building on what has been achieved in recent years. The Ladies section of the club has huge potential and we plan to further their recent successes as we go forward into the new season. All senior players should attend pre-season training and new members of all abilities will also be very welcome."
BHC Ladies 1st XI will play this season in the Premier League, the 2nd XI in Junior 2, 3rd XI in Junior 5 and the 4th XI in Junior 6.
Phil added: "The Ladies aim to again field four senior teams this year and are looking forward to seeing last seasons' under-15s progress into the senior club. All girls aged 15 and over should come along to Havelock on Mondays for pre-season training. A number of pre-season friendlies will be organised over the summer months and it is important that all our players attend training sessions to ensure the best possible preparation for the season ahead."
Ladies pre-season training will start on Monday 24 July at 7pm at Havelock Park and continue on Monday nights. From August training will move to Monday and Wednesdays at Havelock with Saturday sessions also to be scheduled. Details of men's pre-season will be confirmed in due course.
