A POPULAR member of staff at Rathfriland Farmers’ Co-Op has retired.

Jennifer Grant stepped down as head of office staff at the busy mart just before Christmas.

Jim McCrum MBE, Co-Op manager, paid tribute to Jennifer and her years of faithful service.

“I would like to thank her for her service over the years. She was very popular with farmers and dealers as well as with the rest of the staff. Jennifer was terrific at her job, very diligent.”

Jennifer from Tandragee moved to Rathfriland Farmers’ Co-Op from Newtownhamilton Mart back in 2003.

Her contribution to the smooth running of the Co-Op was greatly appreciated by all. Gifts were presented to her by Mr McCrum on behalf of the Co-Op directors, by Sharon McAllister, canteen manager, on behalf of the Co-Op canteen staff and by Rodney Windrum, auctioneer, who presented a gift on behalf of farmers and buyers.

Meanwhile, Jennnifer said: “I would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone at Rathfriland Farmers Co-op.

“I was completely blown away by all your generosity and whilst I was sad to leave the co-op, I know I have left it in very capable hands.

“Everyone there just seemed like an extension of my own family and we all rallied together if any one of us needed help. Friendships like these are precious and not easily forgotten.”
