Last Friday (10 August) saw beautiful sunshine in Mourne Park as Lady Captain Grainne Killen hosted her Lady Captain’s Day which began with a shotgun start at 10.30am.
All the ladies set off together and the fairways and greens were in excellent condition for a great day’s golf.
Afterwards all the golfers and visiting guests were treated to traditional afternoon tea with a range of delicious food provided by the Lady Captain’s family and fellow golfers.
A nine-hole competition for men followed and later in the evening a scrumptious Buffet was provided by ‘Top Nosh’.
The Lady Captain thanked her family and friends, committee members and all who made her day so special, and presented beautiful prizes to the winners as follows.
Ffirst Marie Mc Givern, second Ann Marie Higgins, third Anita Agnew, gross Adrianne McCullough, front nine Rhona Clarke, back nine Catherine Cordell, nine hole winner Nora Knox, runner-up Maureen Rowland. Committee prize Ann Teggarty, visitors prize Bonnie McGreevy, men’s nine hole winner John Henning, runner-up Micheal McAnulty and the visitor prize went to Gareth Whitehead.
A most enjoyable night was had by all with music and dancing to round off a successful day.
