Another chapter in Club history

Banbridge Hockey Club opened another chapter in their illustrious history this weekend, officially opening the new pitch at Havelock Park.

The new pitch replaced the old pitch which was in place for over 11 years. Banbridge Hockey Club opted for the AstroTurf Hockey Classic, the fastest hockey turf in the world.

Banbridge Hockey Club President Jo-Anne Lyttle stated; “Banbridge Hockey Club is one of the top clubs on the island of Ireland providing hockey for pre-school children up to senior teams and to those of all abilities. Through the provision of this new pitch at Havelock Park this will continue in the years ahead. The new pitch will ensure that the club can provide top class facilities for hockey and other sports in Banbridge and as the pitch has now been awarded the Federation of International Hockey Global Elite Status it is hoped that we will attract senior international games and major tournaments to the club.”

Eugene Magee, BHC Men’s 1st XI player and most capped senior Irish international player commented; “It is fantastic to have a pitch of this calibre at Banbridge. This pitch is one of the best surfaces to play on. We have been training on the pitch since the project was completed and are looking forward to starting the season and playing our first competitive games on it in the weeks ahead.”
