Countdown is on to this year's Rathfriland 10k

THIS year’s Rathfriland 10k will take place next Wednesday, 15 August.

The annual event organised by Rathfriland Runners in conjunction with Rathfriland Regen, will start and finish at the Milestone on Newry Street.

Starting at 7pm the 5k walk/fun run will get underway while the 10k run will begin at 7.10pm.

Adrian Megaw, fitness trainer will provide a warm up before the run starts, while refreshments will be supplied once the run is completed.

The entry fee for the 10k run - which is a chipped event - is £15, while the cost of entering the 5k walk and fun run is £5.

There will be cash prizes for first, second and third male and female as well as prizes for the first male and female in the 5k.

This year’s chosen charities are Cancer Focus and the Southern Area Hospice.

Registration will also be available on the day from 4pm until 6pm and registration for the 10k will be £18 on the night. Alternatively you can collect a registration form in the Milestone supermarket or SM Shoes.

Last year Seamus Lynch won the race in a time of 34:50 while Lynne Spence was the first female home at 43:26.
