BANBRIDGE'S Game of Thrones Studio Tour welcomed five guide dog puppies in training from the NI charity GuideDogs.org as part of an early socialisation and development exercise.

The Studio Tour was selected for the visit in part because of its accessibility-focused design. As one of the largest single-floor visitor attractions in Northern Ireland, Game of Thrones Studio Tour offers wide walkways, step-free access, and inclusive facilities.

This layout creates a comfortable and practical environment for guests with a wide range of needs, including visitors who are supported by guide dogs or other assistance animals.

With its dynamic atmosphere, immersive sets, and distinctive sounds, the Game of Thrones Studio Tour provided a unique and enriching environment for the young dogs to further their training. It created the ideal setting for them to practice staying calm, focused, and responsive amid unfamiliar and stimulating surroundings.

Guided by professional trainers and dedicated volunteer puppy raisers, the dogs navigated through various sets as part of their early-stage exposure to real-world conditions. This visit not only supported their essential development but also reflects the Studio Tour’s ongoing commitment to accessibility, inclusion, and community partnerships.

“Seeing these future guide dogs navigate the Studio Tour with such confidence was a powerful reminder of why accessible spaces matter,” said Mark Woolner, Head of Sales and Marketing at Game of Thrones Studio Tour.

“Every element of the Tour was designed to be inclusive, and it was rewarding to see that intention in action. We are proud that the venue could contribute in a small but meaningful way to the development of these dogs, who will go on to make an extraordinary difference in people’s lives.”

“Our pups and puppy raisers had an unforgettable day - one many of them have never experienced before,” said Gillian, Puppy Development Advisor at Guide Dogs NI.

“Puppy raising is an intense and often demanding role. Days like these are not only crucial for the development of the pups but also act as a real morale booster for our volunteers, giving them a sense of recognition and joy.

“The Studio Tour itself was phenomenal - one standout moment was seeing the pups sitting calmly in the fog exhibit as the smoke was triggered - a feat I honestly wasn’t sure we could achieve. It was a unique and invaluable learning experience that will serve the pups well in their future roles.”

Located on the original filming location at Linen Mill Studios in Banbridge, Northern Ireland, the Game of Thrones Studio Tour stands as a world-class experience that brings the legendary series to life.

Through its immersive sets, intricate props and costumes, and behind-the-scenes storytelling, the Studio Tour offers visitors a deep dive into the artistry, craftsmanship, and creativity that defined one of television’s most acclaimed series.

The Game of Thrones Studio Tour will continue to support the community with special visits to aid all disabilities and abilities, and hopes to see the next generation of Guide Dog trainees at the Tour in the future.
