Armagh is preparing to start Christmas celebrations with the annual Georgian Festival, returning Thursday 27 to Sunday 30 November. Ushering in the Christmas season with a historical twist, offering a vibrant programme packed with activities for all ages.
The centrepiece of the weekend is Georgian Day, taking place on Saturday 29 November. This much-loved event features over 100 artisan stalls, live street music, costumed performers, traditional chestnut sellers, and a host of children’s entertainment. Visitors can mingle with Georgian characters as they stroll through Armagh’s charming, cobbled streets.
Saturday’s programme also includes Courthouse Mock Trials, a visit with the Silhouette Cutter at Armagh County Museum, a series of guided walking tours that bring the city’s rich history to life and lots more. With so much to see and do, Georgian Day promises an unforgettable experience for all ages.
Another weekend highlight is the much-loved Light Show, set to illuminate Market House on both Friday 28 and Saturday 29 November. This year’s “Step into Christmas” animation, will transform the building into a shimmering canvas of imagery, special effects, and festive surprises. The celebrations continue into Sunday 30 November with a more relaxed programme of activities. Leading the way is the Santa Bus, where younger visitors can meet Santa and Mrs Claus. Families can also enjoy horse and carriage rides, funfair attractions at Shambles Yard, and browse Georgian festive stalls at the market.
