PEOPLE in the Banbridge area and drumming community have come together to remember a man from the town who passed away suddenly last week.
Simon Glenn tragically died at his home in Dickson Park, Seapatrick on Sunday, 3 August at the age of just 37.
His funeral was held on Thursday past, 7 August, in Holy Trinity Church, Banbridge.
Simon was a well-known and popular member of the drumming community and his friends in the South Ulster Drummin Association organised a Just Giving fundraiser to support his devastated partner, Gabby and children, Tommy and Zac.
Having initially been set up with a target total of £1,000, the fundraiser has so far raised over four times the initial sum, with £4,240 pledged to support Simon's family.
The Association said: “Simon’s enthusiasm, support, and good humour will be deeply missed.
“This fundraiser is a way for the wider drumming community to come together in his memory. All proceeds will go directly to Simon’s partner, Gabby, to support her during this incredibly difficult time. Your kindness and generosity will be deeply appreciated by those closest to Simon.”
Numerous people paid their own tributes online, including one who said Simon would "always be missed".
They wrote: “Not only have I lost my best mate but I feel like I’ve lost a part of me. 25 years of friendship can never be replaced. You’ve been with me through my ups and downs… You’ll always be missed, Simon Glenn – gone but not forgotten. Rest easy, Big Chief.”
In addition to partner Gabby and sons Tommy and Zac, Simon is also survived by parents Adrian and Joanne.
