EASTER Saturday, 19 April saw Rathfriland Clay Pigeon Club hold their annual 100-DTL Easter shoot, where the Joe Cairns Cup was up-for-grabs.
Despite the blustery conditions, there was a total of 53 guns in attendance, with the chilly temperatures doing nothing to stop the chase for silverware.
The early pace was set by the local stalwarts; Rathfriland’s Raymond Graham, in a rich vein of form following a win at Banbridge last weekend, and Ronald Sloan both posted 100/297 to make a strong case for the hotly-contested trophy.
However, they would both be pipped to the post by Donegal’s Jim Doherty who blew away the competition with a fantastic 100/299.
The club would like to thank all those who attended, and also those who helped with the successful running of the event in any way.
Final results were as follows;
High Gun & Joe Cairns Cup winner - Jim Doherty
AA 1st - Ronald Sloan
AA 2nd - DJ Clarke
AA 3rd= J Bach, J Donnelly & D Armstrong

A 2nd - A Johnston

B 1st - Aaron McDowell
